You just couldn't beat an Illinois watch at this time...its because of their quality! That's the reason these watches are so desirable today. This "Beau Brummel" is a good example of why collectors pursue these watches with vigor.

The Illinois Watch Company was manufacturing watches from 1914 until 1927. After Hamilton purchased Illinois in 1927 they continued to operate in Springfield until 1933. I feel that one of the reasons that Hamilton became the industry leader is it's acquisition of the Illinois company. The wonderful style that is evident in this watch is a product of Illinois' great design team. There was a series of "Beau" watches and the "Beau Brummel" is one of the most interesting. The dial is a restored original that shows the style of the age. The seconds bit is at the 9 o'clock position and this makes for very different looking wristwatch. The hands are skeletonized and have lume suspended within their delicate borders. The movement is a 17 jewel 6/0 size, grade 601 beauty that is housed in a 14k yellow gold filled tonneau case. The bezel is engraved with such great designs that it stands alone. This is one of the nicest "Beau Brummels" that we have had the pleasure to acquire. It is sad to think that in a few more years we will not see many more like this one. The collectors covet these nice vintage timepieces and they will not come to market again in any numbers. The Illinois production was fairly low and they only made watches for a comparatively few years until acquire by Hamilton in 1927. These cases are three part and are a very substantial compliment to the wrist visually. Additionally the case shape (tonneau) is very eye-catching and handsome. Watches like these, from the late 1920's and early 1930's, and have a look that is hard to beat in any age. Take a close look at the "Zoom In" images and hook your drool cup up over your ears.
