Illinois A. Lincoln
product number PW1678

This was the Cadillac of watches in the 1920's! The Illinois Watch company has deep roots starting in 1869 and holding forth until 1927.  They were, for our money, one of the best producers of pocket watches that were made in America. Not only were they a great company but they were innovative too. Their first stem-wind watch was made in 1875 and they introduced the first open face watches to America. Not surprisingly Abraham Lincoln purchased one of his pocket watches in Springfield. Ill. and the Illinois Watch Company wanted to immortalize the great man with several iterations of watches bearing his name. This particular "A. Lincoln" is a twelve size, 19 jewel, that had to be custom ordered in this configuration. The gold filled, beautifully decorated, case contains a stellar 19 jewel movement that our head watch maker has winding, setting and keeping time just like it did the day it left Springfield. Make sure you notice the un-engraved cartouche that awaits your family initials, and the original dial with its fabulous patina. The blued steel hands complete the look along with the stylized bow. Once you peek inside the case in the "Zoom-In" photos you can see the large ruby jewels, and the elegant damaskeeing pattern on the movement plates. Yes, this is a watch that will serve you family for several lifetimes and ask only that you clean and oil it every three years. Remember all of our timepieces come with our famous one year warranty for parts and labor so that you may buy with confidence.

Orator Art Deco Marcasite Pendant watch
product number PW1677

This is one you have to see in person because the photos just can't capture the real Art Deco essence of this timepiece! I think that it is the light coming off of the stones that gives it a special appearance that the camera just can't see. Talk about a definitive Art Deco watch....this is it! The watch is a very nice Swiss Orator that our watchmakers have winding, setting, and keeping time like the day it arrived here in America in the 1930's. The metal is all sterling silver and the black enamel work just sets it off perfectly. The bar pin is hand engraved and catches the light quite nicely. The stones are all costume but the quality of the movement is an excellent 17 jewel Swiss beauty. There are 34 marcasites bordering the watch and 18 baguette rhinestones that compliment the black half-round and black pyramidal stones. No doubt some well-to-do lady wore this piece to a fare-thee-well. Now you can have an authentic piece of the era that has a great deal of style for a reasonable price,in fully restored condition, and warrantied for one year for parts and labor. Not only is it a nice watch but it is also a piece of Art Deco jewelry. Don't miss it since we have only had one of these after being in the business for over 33 years!

Elgin Ladies 14K Solid Gold Hunting Case
product number PW1629

This is a lovely little ladies Elgin Pocket Watch, that would have been a real prize for any lady in 1914 when it was made. These watches were almost always worn on a slide chain around the neck or on a watch pin. The chain was long enough that it doubled over you head and formed a "V" shape holding the watch securely at your breast bone. Residing on the chain was a slide that you could position at whatever your collar configuration was for your outfit. The slide moved easily along the chain but stayed in place once it was positioned due to bits of cork that were inside of the slide for this purpose. It made for a very elegant look. Most women had gold filled watches but a few were lucky enough to have a solid gold one like this one. Not only is it solid 14k gold, but it is one of the most beautifully engraved watches we have had in over 33 years. The hand engraving is so spectacular, not only in execution but condition that it takes you eye whenever you are near it. Make sure that you take a look at the "Zoom-In" photos to see it in detail. There are two cartouches on the lids that are a very unusual ovoid shape...one is plain polish and awaiting your family initial, ...while the other has an intricate idyllic scene engraved to amuse your eye. Once you have drooled over the engraving take a look a the fancy bow at the top. In a world of plain circular bows this one is king. As you might imagine with a case this wonderful the seven jewel movement is in pristine condition and the the superior of the two grades that Elgin offered at the time. Our watchmakers had only to clean, oil, and regulate the watch to get it winding, running, and keeping time just like it did back in 1914. Many women had watches of the era but only the lucky few had solid gold watches like this beauty and it can be yours. Remember all of our timepieces come with our famous one year warranty for parts and labor so that you may buy with confidence. Don't miss this one...as we have only one!

Vacheron & Constantin 14K Opera Watch
product number PW1676

Since 1755 the firm of Vacheron and later Constantin have consistently been one of the "Big Three" in watchmaking history. Along with Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet, Vacheron had the world at its feet. They can count, among their customers the luminaries of the last two and a half centuries. Their position at the zenith of watchmaking has continued to this day. The Vacheron watch embodied the height of elegance and quality!

Vacheron's reputation was legion in the courts of Europe when everything was hand made. In the latter part of the 19th century Vacheron was a participant in many time trials and a in the winner's circle on many occasion. A particular exemplary trial occurred at Kew Observatories in England when no fewer than 9 watches won top honors.

Now cast your eyes on this stunning V&C. Made circa 1939 it exemplifies the elegance and quality of what is called an "Opera Watch". This is a watch of high quality which is thin enough to reside in the vest pocket of a tuxedo for a night at the opera....hence the name. These watches were always at the pinnacle of the manufacturers art because they were on display to a very high level clientele. This particular watch is 14K solid gold with a very classy two tone silvered dial that exhibits sold gold applied Roman Numerals. The final handsome attribute is the roped-like turned case edge and bow. We even have the original warranty papers for this V&C. The movement is a pristine mechanical wonder that is winding, running, and keeping time just like it did in 1939 after our master watchmakers having lovingly cared for it. The long and short of it is that this is an incredible timepiece that can be the pride of any collection and may reside in your family for generations to come.

South Bend Open Face Train Man's
product number PW1655

This is a railroad style watch but, because it is not lever set, it cannot qualify as a Railroad Watch, but certainly a trainman, or railroad aficionado owned it, due to the wonderful engraved locomotive on the back lid. The 15 jewel movement is in perfect running order and the chrome case is in very nice condition. South Bend was a short lived company holding forth only 26 years from March of 1903 to December of 1929. In that short time they distinguished themselves as a company to reckon with and their reputation for quality pocket watches still beckons to collectors today. This South Bend was made circa 1910 and it sports a 15 jewel, three quarter plate, nickle movement, caliber 207, with a spectacular damaskeening pattern on the plates (striped) and winding wheels (oscillating wave pattern). The double sunk porcelain dial is in nice condition showing only some minor hairlines...a tribute to its many years of good service. If you are a new collector or you have an interest in a nice pocket watch (at a good price) then this may be the entry level watch for you that will give years of reliable service and is a little out of the ordinary. You must take a look at the case back engraving of the locomotive...you can almost hear it rushing past on route to its destination. Remember our one year warranty for parts and labor will give you the confidence to buy with no regrets.
